Audi Environmental Foundation awards sustainability prize for best thesis

This year, for the first time, the Audi Environmental Foundation is promoting a sustainability award at the Technical University of Ingolstadt for the best thesis in the field of sustainability and environmental protection. The award ceremony took place as part of the Academic Celebration of the THI, at which only a few guests could be present due to the pandemic. Most of the students were able to attend the hybrid event in a live stream.
In his bachelor thesis, the prize winner Roman Schiebel dealt with the modeling and simulation of a plus-energy apartment building. He developed a computational model that uses AI to contribute to a sustainable energy concept for new buildings. "The building sector accounts for around one third of Germany’s total energy consumption," says Roman Schiebel. "In order to achieve our climate goals, it is therefore extremely important to find solutions for more sustainability in this area. My bachelor thesis aims to help us take one more step in this direction." With this award, newly created by the THI, the Audi Environmental Foundation wants to promote young scientists at the Ingolstadt site.
