“Second life” concepts at Greentech Festival in Berlin

The Greentech Festival took place in Berlin for the second time from September 16 to 18. The festival for green technologies and sustainable lifestyle with co-founder Nico Rosberg, sustainability entrepreneur and former Formula One world champion, has been fundamentally reconceived.

Under the motto „celebrate change“, it had been organized as a hybrid event. A combination of live events such as an exhibition, a concert and discussions were performed on site as well as live streams and further digital elements for online viewers to comply with the current regulations on hygiene in times of Covid-19.

Our donor AUDI AG is founding partner of the festival. With its commitment, it wants to make a contribution to create a platform concerning sustainability and climate change. Audi is also sponsor of the Green Awards, which honor pioneers and innovators in four categories – Youngster, Start-up, Innovation, Impact – whose ideas and actions for a sustainable lifestyle are leading to a positive change.

A special highlight was the “Lifetime Achievement Award” presented to Jane Goodall, who became popular in the 1960s for being the first researcher to sit among a group of chimpanzees and is a famous protagonist in the fight for animal welfare and environmental protection.

Within the festival, the Audi Environmental Foundation could present one of its Greenovation projects, the nonprofit startup Nunam of co-founder Prodip Chatterjee. Nunam is producing mobile energy storage systems from old laptop batteries in India, giving the batteries a second life – a sustainable solution.

You can find out more about Nunam here

At the Audi exhibition stand the visitors could meet Prodip explaining his latest prototypes. The interested public could also discover the new English version of our Greenovation book, which presents ideas and technologies for a sustainable life. Among the first visitors was Nico Rosberg.

Another exhibition objects was a bench made of recycled plastic waste – another project supported by the foundation: „Clear Rivers“ where visitors could take a rest.

The Greentech Festival has been a very successful event presenting many solutions against climate change and for a sustainable life. The visitors could get some useful inspirations showing that each and every one can make an important contribution for environmental protection. We are looking forward to Greentech 2021.
