The World Earth Day, celebrated on 22 April, is one of the world's most significant environmental awareness days and is observed in more than 190 countries. It promotes environmental and climate protection while encouraging greater awareness of sustainable action.

Plogging puts these principles into practice: by combining physical activity with litter collection, participants develop a direct connection to their local environment, gain awareness of environmental challenges, and experience sustainable engagement in a tangible and meaningful way.

Initiatives such as the Audi Social Day as well as dedicated trainee and team activities provide employees with opportunities to engage together in support of the environment and society. At the heart of these formats is voluntary participation that creates a tangible impact while also fostering exchange and connection beyond everyday work routines.

A key element of these activities is plogging. Employees come together, enjoy time outdoors, and collect litter along their route, which is then properly disposed of after the event. This makes environmental engagement visible and allows participants to experience its positive effects firsthand.

As a purposeful team activity, plogging helps strengthen collaboration and team spirit across Audi. At the same time, it promotes greater awareness of responsible and sustainable behavior, creating lasting effects that extend beyond the event itself and into everyday working life.

In cooperation with Audi Health Services, Audi BKK, and partners from the sports sector, such as FC Ingolstadt, plogging events bring together physical activity, team spirit, and environmental awareness. Exercising outdoors has a positive effect on personal well-being and can be meaningfully combined with active environmental protection.

This approach becomes tangible during joint plogging activities: participants collect litter along the running routes and ensure its proper disposal afterward. The events are complemented by additional sports activities and training elements that further encourage movement and an active lifestyle.

The result is a holistic initiative that demonstrates how health, athletic engagement, and environmental stewardship can go hand in hand, creating a positive and visible impact for both people and the environment.

In cooperation with partners such as the Altmühltal Nature Park and as part of regional events and sports initiatives, including triathlon events and collaborations with FC Ingolstadt, joint plogging activities are organized. These partnerships bring together different perspectives, networks, and audiences, helping to introduce the positive impact of plogging to new target groups.

Beyond raising environmental awareness, plogging also strengthens collaboration within the region. At the same time, it demonstrates how sport can inspire people to take action and how collective engagement can create a visible and meaningful impact on the local environment.

The World Cleanup Day in September is the world’s largest civic movement against environmental pollution. On this day, millions of people around the globe take a stand for cleaner cities, parks, and landscapes. This civic engagement is particularly evident in the fact that our World Cleanup Day plogging event has become something of a tradition and is organized together with the Environmental Office of the City of Ingolstadt.

The plogging activity is part of this global commitment and demonstrates how collecting litter together can lead to tangible improvements in the local environment.

The Greentech Festival stands for sustainable technologies, innovation, and forward-looking solutions. It brings together companies, initiatives, and project partners who are working towards a more sustainable future.

In the context of the festival, the topic was taken beyond the official program through an accompanying plogging activity. In cooperation with project partners, a joint format emerged from the on-site exchange and helped to translate the festival’s ideas into practical action.

This allowed the dialogue around sustainability to be complemented by a hands-on activity, demonstrating how ideas and inspiration from the festival setting can be transformed directly into collective action.
